Chris, wonderful, wonderful, Photo-essay! I like your material and handling of it very much. I know this tree is much less a vine than its cousin L. japonica which, based on a wonderful article in "Bonsai Today", I'm trying to work with, but it does somehow, at least to me, have a bit of the same essence. Especially the one I saw awhile back in "BT".
I, personally, in my state of blissful ignorance, think you are missing a good bet dismissing the idea of a smooth surfaced pot for this fine tree. I believe it would compliment the beautiful, smooth bark much better than a rougher, darker pot. A soft color, like Renee has suggested, I find perfect.
You've done such a great job up to now, however, that I think that we can all trust you to make the proper decision!
Best regards, Fred
