So I shouldnt cut or trim it down then? Just pot it on in the spring and keep it staked? I have been trying to fing more info on trunk chopping and backbudding (long way off I know) but what little info I can find, none of it gives you an idea as to the sucess rate. To grow a tree for 5 years increasing it trunk diameter and then to just cut it off leaving no branches relieing on it to produce new growth from the cut, would break my heart if it died sounds very risky to me!
Cheers
