here is another of my figs....
firstly it is an example of how NOT to wire...no laughing please - i think i may have been in the sun too long that day.
secondly, the little gravel on the surface is too keep the soil from being washed out and to keep the tree from drying out too quickly... and it works for me. I have only ever managed to grow moss on the soil of dead trees and only for a few months of the year - so gravel has to do.
It is more or less a twin trunk. On the upright trunk there is a fairly thick branch which goes off towards the back of the tree, although the pic doesnt show its direction very well. My question is... does it stay or should i chop it off... Do i need it or is it just filling up space that i should really be developing the second trunks apex in...hmmm anyone?
