Ouch. I guess we know which side of the tree the lifeline is on. I think youo might be able to disguise the one on the branch on the right when you do your carving. A little filler might be necessary

The one on the left is going to be tough. Usually the loose bark is stripped from juniper leaving veins of live wood exposed. You might be able to fill some and carve some there. The tree's lifeline is almost certainly on the opposite side by now.
