Penjing is not a style like broom or informal upright, but a 'school of thought'. It is much like bonsai, but it has strong roots in China, not Japan. P'en t'sin or penjing is more often miniature landscape than bonsai. Sometimes it includes only stones, moss and figurines. No trees at all. Some of them are quite much like saikei and some of them more like bonsai.
