I think you would want to cut it just under that second big knuckle and wire up a new apex.

You'd also want to reduce the branching to at most 2 branches at the whorl points.

In the end the tree might be developed from that first branch off to the right, or you could make a small formal upright.

You could also make these cuts and let it grow on. Just don't allow too many branches at any one point.
