Al,
I really like your accent plants and other accent objects. They add a great deal to the displays. I particularly like the accent plant alongside the 9" maple forest.
I'm a bit troubled by the formal upright (chokkan) trident display, though. You've got a "distant mountain stone" as the accent object, but you've placed it in the foreground and slightly above the tree. I find this to be visually troubling.
Similarly, you've placed your black mondo accent plant (with the informal upright trident) somewhat above the base of the tree itself, so that it sits at roughly the midline of the tree and again creates visual dissonance. Why not drop it to a bamboo mat or trunk slice?
