The workshop was a birthday gift from my sweet, loving and understanding wife. For the first year, all I did was feed and water. I was almost afraid to look at it too long for fear it would take offense and die. Luckily, I live only forty minutes from Guy's nursery. He'll let me work on his trees and this has given me some experience and confidence. I've had a chance to prune, wire, root prune and pot several large pines and observe work on a lot of others. It is amazing to see these landscape pines (these were not intended to be bonsai) transformed into amazing trees. Guy is truly one of the best at finding the tree within nearly impossible raw material.

The wire is wrapped around the trunk to anchor the main branch being bent, which was pointing almost straight up. Raffia, six wraps of # 6 wire, three people and a guy wire were needed to bring this branch into position.
