This sounds great - so long as the categories are by tree type or size, NOT by years in training. Years in training has nothing at all to do with beauty or excellence. The only relevant quantifiers are species, size and, sometimes, style (although only bunjin style makes sense to seperate from the rest).
If the show is to be a judged show, only quality and beauty counts. If it is to be just an exhibition, categories are irrelevant - just show the trees and enjoy them. Either way, I'm looking forward to it.
