Meeting Format

One of the things that the Clubs in California are trying to do this year is to have an hour of Bonsai Basics befor the general meeting. We are using this program to bring newbies up to speed. The general meeting is attended by everyone and the topics are better understood by the new members. It is also our hope that the workshops presented by the club will be better attended by the newer members. If your club meeting consists of work shops in members gardens, deligate one member to guide the members who did not bring trees and explain what is going on and answer questions. Have another gather every one who is working on basic material and lead them through repotting and growing techniques. The advanced members are then free to do the work that was entended. I will say that if your club is comprised of only working on trees in members back yards, there is a world of activities out there that you are missing. Our club does several shows a year and several fundraisers, workshops fieldtrips and the ocasional dinner. The shows and fundraisers open us up to the public and this contact brings in our new members.
