Question Bald cypress taper

Looks good.
I have recently begun a bald cypress originally 12 feet cut and air layered to 1foot my goal is to have a mature styled cypress that looks great @ 360 degrees with a good taper. After one trunk chop the new leader took over. However, it only looked good from the front or back. My solution is to take a four inch section higher than another leader, drill a hole at an angle thru the 4 inch section and thread the leader to the top. I’ve done this with some modification. Does anyone believe this may work or has any one heard of this technique before?
