I have to say I'm not a fan of that pot but if its what you want then go for it. Also, what is going on with the left side of the tree? Is that a scar? It is very bare and I feel that there needs to be a branch there. If it is a big scar and you can't get it to bud in the area then you could use it as a feature and hollow it out.
