Collecting seeds
When the trident seeds start to fly in the late summer is the time to strip the tree of as much seed as you wish to store. Keep these seeds in a dry container in your refrigerator (clear plastic with a tight sealing lid )In the early spring after the last frost or earlier in a cold fraim. Take the amount of seed that you want to start, place in a bowl of hot tap water and allow to cool and soak for three days. Pat dry with a paper towel to make sowing easier. Scatter on top of your soil (do not cover ) because your seed will sprout over the next two years remove seedlings and re sew in the same bed in the following spring. Your seed can last for years ( up to 10 ) in your refrigerator. Befor you know it you will have too many Tridents to play with.
