Juniperus in Rain

We have just suffered one of the worst winters ever up here in Canada and it is finally getting hotter out. I am planning to put my Juniperus out side for the first time (bought it during winter couldn't winterize it) and was wondering my forecast calls for substantial amounts of rain in the next couple days, should I put it out or will this give it root rot. Alos what do I do when there are days were all it dose is rain? In my bonsai book there is a picture of someone who made a make shift overhang so the harsh weather wouldn't kill the bonsai. Is this necessary? If not what should I do?
