Red Leaf Trident Needs Work

I just recently purchased this Trident. This is my first Trident and I'm relatively new to Bonsai. It is 12 inches wide at the top and 19 inches tall from the soil line. It is in a 12 inch round mica pot. On one side it has hardly any branches and I'm sure it needs some shaping up. But I don't have a clue as to what to do to it and when to do it. I'm in south east Tennessee...zone 7. Our weather here now is warm like the 70's and 80's during the day and the 50's and 60's at night.Any suggestions as what to do to shape this tree would be greatly appeciated.
