Collecting Trip

I went collecting again today. It was blue skies and temps in the fifties (F). After reading some of the comments on the swamp maple thread about new ways of seeing our native species, it got me in the mood to dig a couple of our native pines. I'm pretty sure they are loblolly. They are growing in an old gravel pit, and are regularly pruned by beavers. Here's a series of photos of one of the trees (not the best one in my opinion). Before pruning.
