"three weeks later the color changed to light green
now parts of it is brown"
Classic symptoms. But you are correct not necessarily "dead"
"Junipers can stay green for some time before exhibiting signs of dead. To be sure you can do the "bark test" scratch a small area of bark off and see if the cambium is still green, if it is you might get some new growth, but it doesn't sound good."
Questiondivero2, is all the not brown foliage the light green color you mentioned, and is it kind of crunchy?? If so see above, if you still have a good portion of the foliage with the normal healthy green then theres a chance, but the brown and or crunchy green stuff will not come back and will create the need to prune the tree to remove the dead stuff(unless used for jin), possibly for a redesign if the dead stuff was branches that are needed for a particular style.
That is probably more than you need now, keep it in a humid place, water as it dries down, and cross your fingers, unless the bark test shows no green, then it's dead.
