I'm confused. He says PARTS of it is brown. How can you be sure it is dead without seeing a picture? I got a juniper procumbens nana at a beginner course late last year. A few weeks later parts of it were brown and the teacher decided these had to be removed. The rest was green and the tree has made a good recovery. In the last couple of weeks I have seen a couple of others that have been in similar condition at bonsai club workshops. The owners were told to put them into a tent to keep them humid (away from direct sun, of course) and their condition has improved. If it were mine I would want to be 100% sure it was dead before throwing it away.
