Happy "New Year of the Trees"
Thank you for sharing this with us! What a wonderful concept! I think the closest thing we have is Arbor Day here - but I don't think "planting a tree" per se is as widely practised as you describe.
You stated that you could plant a tree anywhere in the world - so I will plant a tree here in California on Saturday - and re-pot a few bonsai!
