I have this shrub in my front yard that was stunted due to an overgrown tree that was planted next to it years before I bought the house. The previous owner had the large tree cut down but the shrub looks horrible and I have to pull it up.
Since I'm new to bonsai, I figure I can learn with this shrub by pulling it up and practicing. Can someone please try to ID or give suggestions on pulling this shrub up etc?
It looks like it has a crazy trunk as you'll see in the pics. And I'm not yet sure what to do with that trunk. I figured I can dig it up and pot it in a nice large pot, cut it back and let it settle up and get strong. It's probably 17 years old at this point.
Looking at these pics again, it looks like it got smashed by something really heavy. Maybe stump grinder
Either way. I have to pull it.
