Yes, you can ssave money by making your own pots. But more important (and saving money is important) is that you can make a pot designed for a given tree. That is almost priceless. I say almost, because there are several potters here, and elsewhere, who will custom make a pot for a tree. But they aren't in my price range, other than my daughter who gives me a discount.
Another plus, and maybe the biggest one, working with pots will make you more aware of pots and their potential for accenting the tree.
