The new leaves on these cherries all have the red tinge, providing they are in full sun and well cared for.. Like new healthy chinese elm leaves that are in the sun also have a red tinge. Even though these trees are called cherries, I believe it is more of a generic name. They are not actually cherry trees... Cherry trees are outdoor trees...sand cherries etc....... Also, I believe surinam cherries have prretty big leaves. or bigger than these indoor ones anyway
