We missed you at the workshop! Hope to meet you soon. What you need here is not a JBP expert but a pest expert.
One thing to note: spider mites will also attack Japanese black pines, so spraying them three or four applications 10-15 days apart will pretty much keep them in check. I don't know if there's ever a way to get rid of them completely.
