Hope this isn't out of place, but here are a few things that come to mind when I contemplate these kinds of things...
If you strive to create bonsai(art) for status and/or recognition, by all means do as others ask of you.
If you strive to create art from trees(bonsai), do as you please and let the results speak for themselves, if it is great no words at all will be necessary.
If you strive to learn a lesson, speak the language of your teachers.
Or if not they will grow tired of teaching.
If you strive to teach a lesson, speak the language of your students.
Or if not, your lessons shall be multiplied.
And lastly, do not speak of the tree, let the tree speak of you.
