I think you're doing a fine job. That said, and not to detract from an overall good tree, I too think the jin is a bit overpowering. It also tends to make the tree look as if it's trying to go in 2 directions at once. However, I strongly suspect that once the living part gets bigger and fills out more, the "overpowering" part will be corrected without you doing anything else, and the directional problem may also disappear as well.
