G'day all you Soilsais...

From my experience...

OilDri is a brand name...there are other "oil/water drying" agents. Mostly, they are interchangable...IF IF IF they are HIGH FIRED, and "natural earth" and NO ADDITIVES...

Schultz Aquatic Plant Soil and Profile (probably same as SAPS) sam "...IF IF IF they are HIGH FIRED, and "natural earth" and NO ADDITIVES...

The above goes for Turface as well...

I have used (1) OilDri, Profile and Turface interchangably...for years, and (2) Pumice and lava interchangably...for years, as well.

However, (1) and (2) are not interchangable.

Further...here in the USA, I would not waste my time looking for a suitable kitty litter...been ther, done that...doesn't work.

That's what works for me. It may work for you...or not.

THE ONLY WAY: Always remember, and don't ever forget, that whatever you read here is not cast in concrete... the intent of any advice is to help. In no way should you feel that I’m saying that my way is the only way…heaven forbid! I've seen far too much of the "my way or the highway" attitude in bonsai as well as in other areas of life.
