I've often thought about this tree since they are frequently low spreading trees, or wider than they are tall. I like the look of this type of canopy. I've noticed them many times growing in "soil" that is not much more than pulverized coral rock in the Fla. Keys. Add some very harsh winds and associated additional salts (spray) and over the years you get some fairly contorted specimens as a result. Hence, the interest.

I am reasonably sure they could tolerate any standard procedure for suitable reduction of leaf size. The only draw back for me is that I can't find one to collect!

Nursery stock is readily available but, just not the same...(SIGH).
