Ditto. The only generic answer I feel comfortable offering is that I tend to notice a positive response to watering or feeding within a day or so no matter the species if the plant is otherwise healthy. The leaves perk or green up, but otherwise it's all over the charts depending on any number of variables.
I had some junipers last season that pushed no and I mean no new growth all season. I couldn't tell whether they were living or dying for nearly a year. Now, they a growing gang busters. I've had other really sick plants suddenly start pushing new growth in a few days after feeding them.
There's really no way to answer your question.
