It's hard to tell the actual size of the leaves but it looks like a Serissa Foetida to me, They do like bright light and will flower if treated right.
Do not as rockm says let it be exposed to frost. Looks like a Chinses import with the turned trunk style.
The roots are great looking and that is the type of style so do not worry about it.
