I have never seen fruit on a good bonsai trees, other than in photographs. I've seen several pictures in books and on the internet.
I said "on good bonsai trees", because for years I grew a fig tree for fruit in a 15 gallon pot.
I wasn't pruning it as a bonsai, but it died back to the roots a couple of times over the winter, and dieback partway a couple of other times. It started me thinking about bonsai again after more than 15 years without bonsai, so that was good.
But I finally gave it to a neighbor who had a heated greenhouse. My unheated greenhouse just wasn't to it's liking. Hence the dieback.
Alas, no pictures. I can't even remember much what it looked like.
I have moved away from the neighbor I gave it to, but I think I'll ask him for a cutting. That is how I got it in the first place, a pencil-sized cutting mailed to me.
