It sounds like you are a very compassionate person. Have you ever considered the pain and suffering that the animals of this world receive at the hands of man(kind?)? Look and see what happens to them by checking out Peta's websights. Your dinner steak had a face, your omelette came from a bird who's life was spent in misery and filth. Share your compassion with the dogs and cats of the world. That tree will probably grow for many, many years to come thanks to you. There are animals all over the world who would like to have some of those years.
