Starting a club.
I thought I was as far as I knew the only bonsai nut in my area having moved to a very isolated area in far northern queensland. We live some 1850 km (1100 miles) from the nearest capital city, so all stock is pretty much grown from seed bought at orchard nurseries or the little local nursey.
I dropped into the small nursery and it turns out that the lady there is very interested in bonsai and has a few "out the back".
We got talking and I askerd her if any other customers had asked about bonsai, apparently a few had.
I asked her to keep a record of those who asked or who purchased bonsai tools.
It looks like we are going to have a small bonsai group out in woop woop.
Anybody with any tips on pitfalls in running a group like that, your feedback would be appreciated.
On a sad note Port Douglas (where steve irwin died) lost a big (for the size of the region) Bonsai nursery recently when it closed down. I only heard about it AFTER the stock was all sent down south.
