Don't keep moving the tree around. Decide on a place to leave it and leave it their. Trees do not like to move, that's why they have roots. Stop worrying so much and poking and prodding your tree. It's not doing it any good.

Pale olive drab foliage that is crunchy means the foliage is dead. Flexible green foliage is good. Shedding foliage in the autumn is not unnusual, even for evergreens.
