Trip to Chikugo-En - So. Cal.
Well, based on recommendations recieved here, I stopped into Chikugo-En Bonsai nursery in Gardena, CA this past week. I flew into LAX on Sunday and being thanksgiving week I was unsure of the hours so I decided to call on Monday morning.
Gary answered the phone and said that they are normally closed on Monday and Tuesday, and with the holiday would basically be closed until the following weekend. But after I told him I was in from out of town he said to come on by and he would be happy to open up for me. It was well worth the trip.
The tree's there are beyond words. Everything from rough, immature stock for growing out, to some of the most gorgeous specimens I have ever seen.
I took some photo's of the place which is quite crowded so its hard to see detail, but feel free and take a look.
If you are ever in the Los Angeles area, DEFINITELY stop by Chikugo-En. Gary is incredibly helpful and VERY nice. A great family run business with phenomenal material.
