Gday Peter and Sarg!

On a whim, I decided to visit Canberra on Saturday November 17th, and spent the greater part of the day in and around the National Botanic Gardens. I was able to finally view one of the world's best-known Eucalyptus Bonsai in person (Peter - I think you know which Eucalypt I am talking about...) Marvellous work!

I was lucky enough to meet both Roger Hnatiuk and Grant Bowie, who are two of the driving forces in Australian native Bonsai. Grant was displaying a Dwarf Allocasuarina, which I deemed to be the best tree in the show (no offense, Peter!). The exhibit was quite small (approximately 35 trees) but there were highlights aplenty.

Unfortunately, the exhibit was set up in such a way that I was unable to get any usable photos. I can only hope that the new National Bonsai & Penjing Collection will be better suited to the display of our little trees.

Thanks.

Fly.
