I'm no expert but I had a similiar experience. I bought a fukien tea last fall and it seemed fine for around a month. Then the leaves started getting brown and dry. I think that as the winter set in the house just got too dry. I was sure it would die but the tree limped along all winter and then seemed to revive over the summer out of doors. I'm hoping I can keep the humidity up this winter.
