This looks like simple fall coloring to me. This has been a very strange autumn. We're having October in November--at least here in Va. The 90 degree temps in October have stretched the time for fall leaf drop. I've still got trees in green leaves when typically they are bare at this time of year. IN the last fifteen years of growing bonsai this is the latest I've seen my trees remain green. Elms are among the latest this year, along with tridents. The last cold snap has begun to push them however. I'm seeing alot of the same coloring on my Chinese elms now.
Wouldn't worry about it.
