Congrats to both of you. This tree may become something very special, perhaps even famous some day. I agree with the earlier assessment about the pot. One of the reasons the roots from the nebari make a knuckle appearance is because the tree has been in too small a pot for too long. This should be easily corrected in time. Something shallower and wider will not only show off the nebari better, but actually make it a better nebari as the tree grows out instead of down.

Glad to see you have a student's heart and are taking to heart the things your teacher is giving you. You are progressing very quickly, grasshopper.

I would definitely love to see this one naked. I have my doubts about deadwood on deciduous trees, but I will reserve judgment until I see the end product.
