I use the Grani Grit (Growers Size) in all my mixes. I also use Turface (OilDri) and Pine Bark. FOr standard mix, equal parts of each. For my pines/evergreens, more of the grit/turface.

I purchase the GraniGrit from Agway. I get the OilDri from Sam's Club, and the mulch just about anywhere. This is quite inexpensive, and works well once it is all sifted to get out the fines. Don't forget that part.

If you have lots of plants or just wnat a cheap, all-purpose mix, this is it.
