I think the width is fine but I'd go about half as shallow and and plant it a little higher in the pot. Does it have any nebari?

Of course that is if your going to exibit it. Otherwise I'd probably leave it in that pot if it turns you on. The tree looks very healthy and happy. I know trees that size dry out pretty fast.
