Carl and Attila, I have had the same experience. Roots will appear on new cuttings if the humidity is high.
Junipers planted in the ground will do the same thing. Branches close to the ground develop little bumps that are the starts of new roots. They rarely reach the ground but these branches can be easily rooted.
Are these aerial roots? Depends on your definition.
