I like your idea John. It would be nice to be able to work on some material without the pressure of entertaining an audience. Demos are great but its very difficult to do quality work and be entertaining and educational at the same time. That is one of the main reason that Arthur, Ken and I have worked together over the last several years. Having 3 demonstrators allows for work and conversation to occur simultaneously.

One of my most memorable experiences at the Expo was the year Ken and I created the Hillside planting. After we finished the demo portion there was still much work to be done, so Arthur setup up a place in the public area where we could finish the planting. I still remember and value some of the interactions that took place while we were completing the project. Folks had an opportunity to ask questions as we worked in a very casual setting.

A competition would be good and appeal to some of the folks. I think others would enjoy and learn something from watching. I think the challenge would come from finding enough quality material. I really don't even think there would need to be a club association.
