I have been using it for 12 years...I believe that it works better than the "River Sand" that most recommend as an additive...it is cleaner. It is very hard and works perfectly to improve drainage and irritate the fine roots. It does not break down. It is 'crushed granite' not decomposed and does not change the PH. I hope this helps...
