What kind of soil is it in? When you water, does the water drain freely out the bottom almost as quickly as you pour it on?
It struck me odd that you water every "couple weeks". I have 7 banyans, the 4 in bonsai training are waterered as needed but never go more than 2-3 days. The others in larger grow pots go longer but still not more than about 5 days.
Treebeard55 suggested inconsistent watering, and I agree, it may be drying out too much then be overwatered for lack of drainage.
Mine are fertilized weekly spring-fall, then monthly during winter. They are happy with the light they get from southern windows, like yours. usually lack of light will result in dropping of green leaves.
