I think it's correct to say fungus attack. If they were mine I woul dinspect the wood underneath for any rot. It may need to be removed to prevent further damage, but first I would drench it all with either something like fung-away (organic) or daconil, which is usually my first choice for severe infestations.

Anybody out there disagree or have other suggestions for this gentleman?
