BEND ME TWIST ME
THE JOURNEY OF 200 DESERT ASH
25/07/07
Trident projects.
Last month I took a drive to my favourite nurseries and look what I found. I instantly fell in love with the basal movement. At a closer look there were two distinct faults. Reverse taper and a wire poking out at the base and top that the tree had grown over long ago. Apparently when young the trees were wrapped with wire and then field grown, allowing the wire to stay. I believe this enhances the movement we are seeing. I will try this on one of my young tridents and follow it closely over the next few years. Now the question is can we fix it, yes we can, cause I love this trunk and I’m not gonna give it up! So off I go to the counter prepared to spend a decent dollar, now because I’m constantly spending money here I’m very well looked after and my man was happy to take a mere $25 only, pot and all. YOU RIPPA.
As soon as I got it home off came the wire ends and in a couple of years say bye bye to them. The trident is another very vigorous grower that wire won’t bother him, he will just swallow it. Next the reverse taper needs to be attended to, a little trickier but easy.
Thanks to all who checked out this post and stay tuned for the next episode of
