You are jumping to conclusions. This is my only hemlock and I have only had it a short time. I keep it in sun and give it a lot of water (I do not let it get dry at all).

My understanding is that hemlocks are flexible. In nature, they can be subject to heavy snowfall without breaking and they also can be manipulated to a large degree.
