Just because there were no replies does not mean that there is anything wrong with the material. I doubt alot of people know the characteristics of Virginia Pine. For me - the tree right now is too tall. The cool little bend in the middle of the trunk is about mid-point in the tree - this sort of divides the tree in two. I would rather have that bend in the lower or upper third of the tree. So I think you need to explore ways of making the tree more compact with guy wires; pulling down the key upper branch. Keep working with the terminal buds/candles and develop a dense crown. You can always subtract the branches/buds that you don't want later. Your tree is very sculptural and until you resolve the upper part of the tree - there is no sense to start styling the crown. Do you ever find these pines with a bigger base ?
