Okay, another dumb question from me perhaps, but I don't understand how you can peel the bark off a tree trunk, plant it deeper and then roots grow from the top part of the tree. I didn't think that the inner wood of the tree carries nutrition. I thought that it was the bark that does that and that would explain why girdling a tree will be the end of it.
And do you find that there is a best time of year to do this process?
I am dying to understand this folks. Thanks for your help.
