Thanks for all the kind words.
STP, I bought that second tree about six or seven years ago. (The link above to my first post on this board will show you a picture of the tree back then; it was probably just a few years old at the time). I left it with my folks when I moved to Atlanta for three years, and then brought it up here to Seattle last year. It's still a tiny little thing, but the bark is getting nice and old and fissured. Right now, the canopy is a mess, but I'm hoping that I can clean up over the next couple of years.
The other one is a korean hornbeam that I bought a year ago in a 2-gallon can, and moved to the pot you see it in as an intermediate. Next year, down to a smaller pot. Lots of work left to do on branch development.
Oh, one other note. I don't actually leave that much moss on either tree - that was added just for the pictures and then removed straight away.
